Cozumel Island Dune Buggy Excursion with Mayan Ruins, Punta Sur and Reef Snorkel
This Shore Excursioneer Excursion is available to all Cruise Line Passengers and Hotel, Vacation Home, Resort, etc. Guests, unless specified otherwise under "Restrictions".
This is a great excursion for young and old and especially fun for families. You get to ride the original Cozumel Dune Buggy all around Cozumel island and visit the highlights of this Mexican Caribbean cruise destination. First, you will get to see parts of downtown Cozumel and how the locals go along their everyday life. Then, you will cross the island and visit the famous San Gervasio Mayan Ruins (not included in the afternoon excursion), located in the center of the island. On your guided tour of San Gervasio, learn why it was a tradition and custom for many Mayans to cross from the mainland to the island in wooden canoes at least once in their lifetime! We will then continue across the island until we reach the "Wild Side" of Cozumel, the East Coast, where you will drive along the coastal road for great views of the Caribbean and miles of sandy beaches and rocky shores, definitely a photo opportunity. Then you will enjoy a guided tour of Punta Sur Eco Park, the largest protected National Park of Cozumel with its beautiful lagoon (yes, we will look for crocodiles there!), the Caracol Mayan Ruin that was used to warn islanders of hurricanes, the 20th century lighthouse which you can climb to the top for a unique view of Cozumel's South Point, visit the Navigation Museum and more.
By now it is time to enjoy what Cozumel is most known for in modern history, its beaches, beautiful crystal clear water and unbeatable reefs and marine life. Enjoy a guided shore snorkel tour to famous Palancar or Dzul-Ha reef, a shallow reef with plenty to see, or simply relax at the great beach of Punta Sur until it is time for an authentic Mexican fajita style lunch. Then we visit our last stop, the first town of Cozumel, the Mayan town of El Cedral where nowadays only about 20 families are living and where the first church of the island was built, next to an ancient Mayan Structure.
After your beach time we drive back to our meeting location.

Where we meet
For the Cozumel Dune Buggy, Mayan Ruins, Punta Sur and Snorkel Excursion we meet at a convenient location just a 5-8 minute taxi ride away from the cruise ship piers.What is included?

Excursion Notes

- The afternoon Dune Buggy Excursion duration is approximately 4 hours and does not include the visit to San Gervasio Mayan Ruins.
- Drivers are required to show a valid driver's license or permit.
- We recommend to bring along sun protection, change of clothes, swim suit, towel, camera and cash for balance payment, souvenirs, snacks, tips, etc.
- The Dune Buggies are equipped with seat belts.
- Optional drop off at your cruise ship pier after the Dune Buggy Excursion.
- Depending on your ship's schedule and the excursion's departure time, the excursion may be cut short to accommodate your schedule.

- This Cozumel Dune Buggy, Mayan Ruins, Punta Sur and Snorkel Excursion is not suitable for pregnant women or people with back injuries, asthma or epilepsy.

A. No, we are driving on paved island roads along the coast and the ride is suitable for children as well as seniors or elderly cruise ship passengers.
Q. Is it hard to drive a Dune Buggy?
A. It is very easy. Please take note that the Buggies are stick shift.
Q. If I do not wish to snorkel, can I just relax at the beach?
A. Yes absolutely, it is not mandatory to join the guided snorkeling excursion at Pünta Sur Park / Palancar Reef.
Q. When and where do I pay the balance?
A. The balance is to be paid upon arrival at your excursion meeting location in cash or with credit card (Visa or Master Card).
Q. Do I need to take my passport with me on the Cozumel Dune Buggy, Mayan Ruins, Punta Sur and Snorkel Excursion to show with my Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket?
A. No, it is not necessary to take along your passport or driver’s license (unless the excursion requires a driver’s license as noted in “Restrictions” and/or “Notes”). Your local Shore Excursion Operator has your booking on hand and will await you showing the Electronic Ticket or a digital copy of it on a mobile device as all tickets can be QR code scanned.
