Costa Maya Hurricane Pictures, Mahahual Q. Roo

Arriving to Costa Maya from Cozumel, the damage of Hurricane Dean in Mahahual and the coast could not be overlooked. Clearly visible was the consequence of a lot of rainfall, which land and soil could not absorb. The remaining rain water washed back into the Caribbean Sea, taking with it lots of dirt, earth, soil, etc,..coloring the ocean in Costa Maya brownish, creating a mile long strip of contrast to the normally blue sea.

These are pictures of Mahahual Village, surroundings and the employee's village just 2 minutes away from Costa Maya Cruise Pier in Mexico. Whereas Hurricane Dean did not directly destroy concrete structures and houses, it destroyed much of wooden buildings. Many of concrete built houses in Costa Maya will however need to be rebuilt due to significant salt water damage within the walls from the strong hurricane winds.

These hurricane pictures of Costa Maya Cruise Pier are speaking for themselves. A sad day for all business owners and tour operators in Costa Maya. The international cruise pier shows significant damage and after primary inspections, will need to be rebuilt completely. Many of the "bridges" have disappeared and pillars need to be replaced. Local tour operators in Costa Maya have evacuated the region until further notice. As soon as cruise ships are coming back to Mahahual, all tours will be running again for tourists to fully enjoy the tours in Costa Maya.
